Square One - A Web Series
A new web series about technologically dependent people who must learn to coexist in a world that is dominated by emails, status updates, and tweets. Throw personal and familial relationships into the mix, and you have a series with a refreshing take on the growing addiction to be constantly connected.
Currently in post production, the series will debut on YouTube Summer 2010.
Garba and Dandiya Raas, an Indian dance originating from the celebration of the Hindu holiday Navratri, has been embraced by the Indian community and transformed into competitions to preserve tradition,congregate as a community and have an excuse to dance. We will follow the 2009-2010 Garba Raas teams in Southern California from their fall auditions through their spring competitions to investigate the beauty, teamwork and stress behind the creation of their competition routines. The documentary will explore the effect of school studies and family background on the dancer’s team life and vice versa.
We will also take a look at the process of organizing the increasingly popular collegiate competitions and explain their role in the evolution in this generation’s connection to their heritage. If you’d like to lend your support to this project please contact Bindi Patel or visit the film’s website.
